Here is an autumn baby food recipe that is easy to prepare and perfect for the colder months:

Autumnal Pumpkin-Apple Porridge

Ingredients:

  • 200 g Hokkaido pumpkin (peeled and seeded)
  • 1 medium-sized apple (peeled and cored)
  • 1 small potato (optional, for more filling)
  • 1 teaspoon rapeseed oil or butter (for healthy fats)
  • 50 ml water or breast milk/formula (depending on the desired consistency)

Preparation:

  1. Prepare pumpkin and potatoes:

    • Cut the pumpkin and potato into small cubes. The Hokkaido pumpkin is particularly practical because its skin becomes soft and does not need to be removed.
  2. Prepare the apple:

    • Also cut the apple into small pieces. Make sure that the apple is well peeled and cored to make it easy to digest.
  3. Cook:

    • Place the pumpkin and potato cubes in a saucepan and cover with water. Cook over medium heat for about 15 minutes until the vegetables are soft.
    • About 5 minutes before the end of the cooking time, add the apple pieces so that they soften but still retain some of their natural sweet taste.
  4. Puree:

    • Drain the cooked vegetables and apple pieces, reserving some of the cooking water.
    • Put everything in a blender or puree with a hand blender. Add the cooking water, breast milk or formula as needed to achieve the desired consistency.
  5. Refine:

    • Finally, stir 1 teaspoon of rapeseed oil or butter into the porridge to add healthy fats that are important for the baby's development.
  6. Let cool and serve:

    • Let the porridge cool to a comfortable temperature and serve fresh, for example in this great tableware set

Tip:

This porridge is also ideal for freezing. Simply freeze in small portions and defrost and reheat when needed.
